Our Vision is to ensure planned development of cities/towns into livable, economically vibrant and productive, sustainable and efficient entities with provision of adequate durable public infrastructure and amenities such as drinking water supply, sanitation, roads, drainage, solid waste management, transportation, public parks, recreation areas including preservation of water bodies and heritage sites.
Odisha is one of the pioneering states in implementing various urban initiatives. In recognition of the reform initiatives undertaken by the state Govt., the Government of India has chosen it as the winner of the award for excellence in municipal initiatives in 2006-07. The State Government has been vigorously pursuing the implementation of various reforms as part of the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission.
